Nicole Markert is a bi/queer poet who is a recipient of Eastern University’s the Thyra Ferre Bjorn Creative Writing Award. Her work has appeared in Hobart After Dark (HAD), Rust + Moth, Furrow, SWWIM Every Day, Glass: A Journal of Poetry, among others. She is currently a poetry reader for Split Lip Magazine and is pursuing an MFA in Poetry as well as an M.A in Publishing at Rosemont College. She currently resides in the Philadelphia area.
She is also a former intern and occasional poetry prize reader for Saturnalia Books. Right now, she is currently working on her first full-length collection. She is also a cancer (sun, moon, and rising), a nature lover, and frequently takes walks barefoot. She also works in higher education and is passionate about helping students and accessible education. Her favorite past times include reading children’s lit and manga, watching anime, and drinking tea while petting her cats named after gods, Athena and Iris.
